Daphne, AL — The United States Sports University (USSU) proudly announces the addition of Ameris Taylor as the new Assistant Coach for the Lady Eagles soccer program. A decorated student-athlete and proven leader, Taylor brings an impressive playing career, academic excellence, and a deep passion for the game to her new role.
A native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Taylor made her mark early at Ocean Springs High School, where she captained her team to the 2019 6A State Championship and four consecutive region titles. Recognized for her versatility and leadership, she earned individual honors including Offensive Player of the Year (2019), Defensive Player of the Year (2018), and selection to the Mississippi Coast All-Star Game and Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Team.
Taylor began her collegiate playing career at East Central Community College, starting every match from 2019 to 2021 and helping the Lady Warriors reach the MACCC playoffs both seasons. She then transferred to Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSU-S), where she started every game over three seasons. Her consistent performance and leadership earned her LSU-S 2023 Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year and multiple nominations for Athlete of the Year honors.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Taylor has shown a strong commitment to academic success. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, and Administration with a concentration in Human Resources in 2023 and is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration.
"Ameris is going to be a great addition to our women's soccer coaching staff and our university," said Neil Scott, Head Coach of USSU Women's Soccer. "She's proven herself as a top player and a leader, and will transition perfectly into a coaching role. I've been fortunate to coach her in the past and look forward to working with her now."
