Fairhope, AL - The USSU Eagles women's soccer team showed grit and determination despite falling 5–0 to NCAA Division II opponent Spring Hill College. Facing a skilled and aggressive Badgers squad, the Eagles held firm through much of the first half before Spring Hill broke through just before halftime.
Goalkeeper Abby Bengtson was a standout performer for USSU, recording an impressive 16 saves against a relentless Spring Hill attack. Her composure and leadership in goal kept the Eagles competitive and prevented the deficit from widening earlier in the match. Offensively, USSU worked to create counterattacking chances, led by Emma Deacon and Ambria Snell, but found limited openings against Spring Hill's back line.
Despite the final score, the Eagles continued to battle until the final whistle, showing resilience and teamwork in a challenging matchup. The Eagles will look to bounce back and capitalize on home-field advantage when they return to action on October 13 against the University of Mobile.
