Box Score 4 Daphne, AL - The United States Sports University salvaged the final game of a four-game series against John Melvin Christian College on Saturday in Pace, Florida by a score of 13-10. The Eagles received great performances by
Giovanny Perez,
Stephen Harrington and
Evan Jacob in the final game. Perez, starting after pitching two innings of relief on Friday gave the Eagles six gutty innings on the mound keeping his team in the game. Trailing 10-9 entering the top of the seventh inning, the Eagles scored four runs to give them a 13-10 lead.
Joe Monaghan led off the seventh inning with a double and stole third base.
Randy Hernandez tied the game up with a sacrifice fly.
Evan Jacob then singled for his fourth hit in the game before
Dominick Hartman walked and after the second out,
Andrew Garza singled with a line drive off the pitcher to load the bases. Alex Maguire then delivered a three-run single into the right-center gap scoring Jacob, Hartman and courtesy runner
Connor Fitzner to make it 13-10.
In the bottom of the seventh the Mohawks had their first two men reach base before
Stephen Harrington entered out of the bullpen. Harrington struck out the first batter he faced, then walked a man before getting a game ending line drive into the glove of Monaghan who flipped to Hernandez for the final out giving Harrington his first collegiate save.
With the win the Eagles stay above .500 with a record of 16-15 before a ten-day break then finish with six games the last week of April.
