Baseball Wins Texas Trip Finale

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dallas, TX - The United States Sports Unitversity won their finale on the four-game trip to Dallas, Texas in big fashion by defeating Dallas Christian College 20-5 on Wednesday afternoon in Farmers  Branch, Texas.  The Eagles dropped the first game of the doubleheader by a 9-4 score.

The Eagles jumped on Dallas Christian in game two with an eight-run first inning.  After one out, Randy Hernandez singled, Evan Jacob followed with a single, Dominick Hartman doubled to score Hernandez.  A pair of hit batsmen plated another run to make it 2-0, after a strikeout wild pitch scoring a run, Joe Monaghan singled to score a pair of runs to make it 5-0. After another hit batsmen, Hernandez drove in two more to make it 7-0 followed by a Jacob RBI single to make it 8-0.  That was enough runs for Eagles starter Case Hager who pitched four innings to pick up the win.  Ryan Carson pitched three shut-out innings to pick up his first save of the season.  Hernandez went 3 for 4 with five RBI's to lead USSU.  Jacob added three hits, Hartman and Andre Poirrier each had a pair of hits in the 17-hit Eagles offensive attack.

The Crusaders took advantage of a pair of walks in the bottom of the 1st inning to take a 3-0 lead after one inning.  Dallas Christian added a pair of runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Dallas Christian scored a pair of two-out runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead.  Trailing 8-0 in the sixth, the Eagles got back in the game with a four-run inning. Hartman double in Randy Hernandez who doubled to lead off the inning, Hayden Phillips then singled before Ashton Wasielewski tripled in Hartman and Phillips to cut the lead to 8-3.  Weston Brock then had an RBI groundout to make it 8-4.
Jaden Brown started for USSU and took the loss.  Stephen Harrington relieved in the sixth and gave up a run to give the Crusaders a 9-4 lead which ended up as the final score.

USSU is now 6-5 on the season and has a three-game series at Southeastern Baptist this weekend in Laurel, Mississippi.
