Box Score 2 Arlington, TX - The United States Sports University struggled in their first two games on their Dallas trip falling to Arlington Baptist College on Monday night in Fort Worth, Texas by the scores of 12-8 and 7-1. In game one, the Eagles came out hitting as
Hayden Jones,
Randy Hernandez and
Evan Jacob all singled to load the bases, then
Dominick Hartman singled to score Jones and Hernandez. After an out,
Hayden Phillips hit a sacrifice fly to left scoring courtesy runner
Connor Fitzner to the give the Eagles a 3-0 lead after the top half of the first. The Patriots countered against starter
Victor Tyo with a double, hit batsmen followed by a balk then a double to cut the lead to 3-2 after one. USSA countered with a five-run second inning with four hits including RBI singles by Hernandez and Hartman giving the Eagles a 8-2 lead. Arlington Baptist countered with three runs aided by two walks and a pair of balks to cut the lead to 8-5 after two innings. The Eagles bats went silent and the Patriots countered with a four-run fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning to pull away in the 12-8 win.
In game two, Arlington Baptist took advantage of seven walks by USSA starter
Mitchel Sampson to jump out to a 6-0 lead after three innings. The Eagles lone run was scored by
Ray Hernandez who doubled and scored on a double play ground out. The Eagles had seven hits in the game paced by
Ray Hernandez's two doubles and a pair of singles by
Weston Brock.
USSA dropped to 5-4 on the season while Arlington Baptist moved to 12-4.
