DUBOIS, Pa. – The No. 4-seeded United States Sports University baseball team stayed alive at the USCAA Small College World Series with its first postseason win in program history, defeating No.10-seeded Central Penn at Showers Field on Tuesday afternoon.

USSU (24-19) struck first in the opening inning when
Braden Braud launched a solo home run to center field for a 1-0 lead.
Â
The Eagles added two more in the second.
Chase Jones and
Hayden Jones opened the inning with walks before
Alexander (Alex) Maguire loaded the bases with a bunt single.
Kade Wall followed with a sacrifice fly, and another run scored on the play to give USSU a 3-0 advantage.

Central Penn (25-8) answered with four runs in the third and added two more in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead.

The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Andrew Garza singled and later scored on an RBI double by
Hayden Jones before Wall added an RBI bunt single to trim the deficit to 6-5.

USSU took the lead in the fifth with three more runs. Alexander Maguire drew a bases-loaded walk, Wall followed with another bases-loaded walk and Braud added an RBI walk to push the Eagles in front 8-6.

Central Penn plated one run in the seventh, but
Victor Tyo closed the door to secure the victory.
Â
Wall drove in a game-high three RBIs while Braud added two RBIs, highlighted by his leadoff homer.
Hayden Jones scored twice and added an RBI double, while
Dominick Hartman finished with two hits.
Â
Victor Tyo (1-2) earned the win with three innings of relief, allowing one run while striking out four.
