LAUREL, Miss. – The United States Sports University baseball team split Saturday's doubleheader against Southeastern Baptist.

Game 1 | USSU 6, Southeastern Baptist 1
The Eagles broke through in the fourth inning.
Dominick Hartman doubled and Daniell Howell singled before
Chase Jones launched a three-run home run to give USSU a 3-0 lead.

USSU added three more in the seventh.
Cory Parker singled and later scored on an RBI single by Howell. Jones followed with a sacrifice fly, and
Hayden Jones added an RBI sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 6-0.

Southeastern Baptist scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI groundout.
Â
Chase Jones led the Eagles with a career-high four RBIs, highlighted by his three-run homer. Parker recorded a season-high three hits while Howell added three hits and an RBI.

On the mound,
Morgan (Henry) Sauber tossed a complete game, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out four.

Game 2 | Southeastern Baptist 13, USSU 7
Southeastern Baptist jumped out early, scoring two runs in the first before erupting for five in the second to take a 7-0 lead.

The Eagles answered in the third when
Napoleon Colston delivered a two-run double to cut the deficit to 7-2.

After the Chargers added a run in the fourth, USSU responded in the fifth. Parker doubled and
Evan Jacob singled before Howell cleared the bases with a three-run double to make it 8-5.

Southeastern Baptist answered with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to extend the lead to 13-5.
Â
The Eagles added two runs in the seventh.
Andrew Garza singled home a run and another scored on a passed ball to cap the scoring at 13-7.

Howell finished with three RBIs while Colston drove in two runs. Parker recorded two hits and scored a run as USSU totaled nine hits.
Â
Deagan Dailey took the loss after allowing seven runs, four earned, over 1.2 innings.
Jaden Brown and
Jhett Long worked in relief.
