GRACEVILLE, Fla. – The United States Sports University baseball team split Tuesday's doubleheader with Baptist University of Florida at Holmes County Field.

Game One | Baptist University of Florida 13, USSU 8
Baptist took control early, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding five more in the second to build an 11-0 lead.

USSU (14-12) got on the board in the fourth.
Daniel Howell doubled and later scored on an RBI single by
Alex Maguire and
Kade Wall followed with an RBI fielder's choice to make it 11-2.

The Eagles added two more in the fifth.
Dominick Hartman hit a solo home run, and
Chase Jones followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 12-4.

Baptist added a run in the fifth to extend the lead to 13-4.

USSU rallied in the seventh with four runs. Maguire delivered an RBI single,
Napoleon Colston followed with an RBI single and
John (Porter) Wilsey added a two-run RBI single as the Eagles took advantage of an error to close the gap to 13-8.

Colston led the Eagles with three hits and an RBI while Howell went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Jones added three hits and an RBI.

Jaden Brown (1-2) took the loss for USSU.

Game Two | USSU 8, Baptist University of Florida 5
Baptist took an early 2-0 lead in the first, but the Eagles answered in the third with four runs.
Evan Jacob drew a bases-loaded walk, Hartman was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Howell added a sacrifice fly. Another run scored on a wild pitch to give USSU a 4-2 advantage.

Baptist tied the game in the bottom half with two runs on a pair of sacrifice flies.

The Eagles regained the lead in the fourth. Jacob hit a two-run single to make it 6-4.
Â
USSU added a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Jones and another in the seventh when Hartman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 8-5.

Jacob led the Eagles with two hits and three RBIs while Hartman drove in two runs.
Kade Wall added two hits and scored twice.
Â
Owen Guth started and allowed four runs over 3.2 innings.
Jakson Stewart and
Victor Tyo worked in relief before Howell closed out the game on the mound.
