CROWLEY, La. – The United States Sports University baseball team split Sunday's doubleheader series finale against John Melvin University.

Game One | USSU 2, John Melvin 1
USSU (9-11) broke through in the second inning when
Daniel Howell doubled to right and later scored on a bunt single by
Kade Wall to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
Â
The Eagles added another run in the third.
Evan Jacob doubled to right before
Dominick Hartman followed with an RBI double to push the advantage to 2-0.

John Melvin got on the board in the fourth when Cabet Blanchard singled and eventually scored on an RBI double by Austin Hebert, trimming the deficit to 2-1.

Morgan (Henry) Sauber (3-0) took control from there, tossing a complete game while allowing just six hits and one unearned run to secure the victory.

Hayden Jones led the Eagles at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance while Jacob, Hartman, Howell, Wall and
Braden Braud each added a hit. Hartman and Wall drove in the two USSU runs.

Game Two | John Melvin 5, USSU 2
John Melvin struck first in the second inning. Hebert reached after being hit by a pitch and later scored when Connor Molaison doubled to left. Jonah Callais followed with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 2-0.

The Eagles answered in the third. Alexander Maguire walked and moved into scoring position before Jacob drove him in with an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 2-1.

USSU tied the game in the fourth when
Napoleon Colston stole second and came home on an RBI double by
Chase Jones.
Â
The Millers regained control in the bottom of the fourth. Callais and Connor Molaison reached before Trevor Durr delivered a sacrifice fly and Sammy Maddox added an RBI single to give John Melvin a 4-2 advantage.

John Melvin added an insurance run in the fifth when Callais singled to score Hebert, extending the lead to 5-2.
Â
Chase Jones led the Eagles with a double and an RBI while Wall and
Cory Parker each added a hit.
Brayden Scott (1-2) took the loss for USSU.
