CROWLEY, La. – The United States Sports University baseball team fell in both games of Saturday's doubleheader to John Melvin University.

Game One | John Melvin 7, USSU 2
John Melvin scored in the first inning when Lincoln Dupre singled home Trevor Durr to give the Millers a 1-0 lead.

USSU (8-10) tied the game in the third. Alexander Maguire singled and later scored when
Cory Parker delivered an RBI single to right field.
Â
The Millers answered with two runs in the bottom half. Tristan Rogers drew a bases-loaded walk and Jonah Callais followed with another walk to push John Melvin ahead 3-1.

The Eagles cut the deficit to one in the fifth.
Braden Braud tripled to right field and later scored on an RBI single by
Kade Wall to make it 3-2.

John Melvin pulled away late. The Millers added two runs in the fifth on a double by Connor Pleasant and a steal at home. The Millers scored twice more in the sixth when Austin Hebert delivered a two-run single to center.

Parker led USSU with two hits and an RBI. Six other Eagles recorded a hit as USSU totaled eight.

Deagan Dailey (1-2) took the loss after allowing four runs over 4.1 innings.
Owen Guth worked the final 1.2 innings in relief.

Game Two | John Melvin 9, USSU 4
John Melvin jumped out to an early lead, scoring six runs in the first inning on three hits, a sacrifice fly and several hit batters.

USSU got on the board in the second inning when
Andrew Garza walked and later scored on an RBI double by
Kade Wall.
Â
The Millers added two more runs in the second to extend the advantage to 8-1.
Â
The Eagles rallied in the sixth with three runs.
Caleb Polk reached on an error and
Nate Perez walked before Garza singled to load the bases.
Hayden Jones followed with a two-run single and Braud later drove in a run when he reached on an error and allowed Garza to score, cutting the deficit to 8-4.

John Melvin added an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI single by JT Teuton.
Â
Garza led the Eagles with two hits and two runs scored while Wall finished with a double and an RBI. Jones added a hit and an RBI.

Will Watts (0-1) took the loss.
Giovanny Perez allowed two runs over 4.2 innings in relief and
Connor Laughery pitched the final inning.
