DAPHNE, Ala. – The United States Sports University clinched the series with a 9-4 victory over John Melvin University but fell in the finale 10-7 Sunday at the Daphne Sports Complex.

Game One | USSU 9, John Melvin 4
John Melvin (11-4) scored twice in the first inning, but USSU (7-5) answered with one in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly by
Daniel Howell.

The Eagles broke the game open with five runs in the second.
Cory Parker singled home a run,
Evan Jacob followed with a two-run single, and Howell reached on a throwing error that allowed two more runs to score as USSU took a 6-2 lead.

The Millers fought back with a run in the top of the sixth. Trevor Durr grounded into a double play that plated a run.
Â
USSU added three insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Napoleon Colston doubled down the left-field line to score
Braden Braud, and Parker followed with his first career home run that scored two to extend the lead to 9-3.

John Melvin tried to rally in the seventh with a home run but was unable to close the gap.
Â
Parker finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, recording his team-leading fifth multi-hit game of the season. Colston also had two hits and an RBI, while Braud added two hits.
Â
Brayden Scott (1-0) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits over five innings.
Jhett Long and
Owen Guth combined in relief to close out the victory.

Game Two | John Melvin 10, USSU 7
The Eagles answered an unearned run in the first with a run of their own when
Dominick Hartman singled home Colston to tie the game at 1-1.

USSU took control in the third inning. Colston was hit by a pitch and Alexander Maguire walked before Jacob launched a three-run home run to left field. Hartman followed with a solo home run to center, giving the Eagles a 5-1 lead.

John Melvin cut the deficit to 5-3 in the fifth, but USSU added two runs in the bottom half. Hartman singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Cooper Nix, who drove in two runs in the inning to extend the lead to 7-3.

The Millers rallied with two runs in the sixth and five in the seventh, capitalizing on errors to take a 10-7 advantage.

Hartman finished 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, setting a career high in hits and marking the most by a USSU player in a game this season. Jacob went 1-for-5 with three RBIs for his team-high fifth multi-RBI game of the year. Colston added two hits as the Eagles totaled 10.

Deagan Dailey started and allowed three runs, one earned, over five innings.
Victor Tyo (0-1) took the loss in relief.
