NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Sports University baseball team split Tuesday's season opener doubleheader at Dillard, dropping the first game 6-5 before responding with a dominant 9-0 victory in the nightcap.

In the first game of the day, the Bleu Devils (1-3, 0-0 HBCU) held off the Eagles (1-1) in a close contest. Dillard built a 6-5 lead and held on for the win.

The series then flipped in the second game, where the Eagles put on a commanding performance. Behind an untouchable pitching effort and balanced offense, USSU blanked the Bleu Devils 9-0.

USSU's pitching staff combined for the first shutout of the season.
Morgan (Henry) Sauber earned the win after striking out six, walking two and giving up five hits over 5.0 innings.

The Eagles' offense was led by
Napoleon Colston, who scored three runs on one double and three walks.
Daniel Howell contributed two RBIs, one hit and one run in the first win of the season for USSU.

Up Next
The Eagles return home to host Florida National in a four-game series starting with a doubleheader Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. (CT) at the Daphne Sports Complex.
