Meridian, MS - The Lady Eagles squared off with Meridian Community College in a hard-fought contest, ultimately falling in a 2-3 decision.
The Eagles captured the first set but were edged in the next two, rebounded to take the fourth, and then dropped the decisive fifth set. Offensively, USSU posted 38 kills and saw 23 errors on 132 total attempts for a .114 attack percentage. They served up 10 aces, registered 6 blocks, and logged 71 digs with 37 assists. Stand-out individual performances included
Jeya Dupris with 16 kills and 21 assists, Emmory McMurtray with 8 kills and 15 digs, while both
Aubree Lamb and
Oriana Morin tallied 17 digs each.
The match showed the Eagles' resilience and ability to extend a match to five sets, but also highlighted areas for growth. The Eagles will compete in a trimatch on Tuesday against Andrew College and Trinity College of Jacksonville.
