Eagles Record First Win of their Inaugural Season

Jacksonville, FL - The Eagles women's volleyball team experienced their first win of the season after falling to Andrew College before bouncing back with a sweep of Trinity College of Jacksonville.

In their first matchup, the Eagles were defeated 0-3 by Andrew College, dropping sets 25-15, 25-19, and 25-12. Offensively, USSU struggled, recording 18 kills on 62 attempts with 19 errors for a hitting percentage of -.016. Defensively, the team contributed 3 team blocks and 5 service aces but could not contain the Fighting Tigers' balanced attack. Leading the Eagles were Jeya Dupris with 6 kills and 3 aces and Emmory McMurtray with 3 kills and a team-high 9 digs. Despite these individual efforts, the Eagles were unable to sustain momentum, highlighting areas for improvement in consistency and execution.

In their second match of the weekend, USSU rebounded with a commanding 3-0 victory over Trinity College of Jacksonville. The Eagles displayed balanced play across offense, defense, and serve-receive, controlling each set and limiting the opponent's opportunities. Standout performers included Jeya Dupris, who contributed significantly with 23 assists and 7 kills; Emmory McMurtray, who anchored the back row with 9 dig total and added 12 key kills; and Oriana Morin, who each tallied 17 digs to support the team defensively.
