Bay Minette, AL – The USSU Eagles volleyball team battled hard on the road but came up short in a 0–3 loss to Coastal Alabama Community College–South on Wednesday night, dropping sets 17–25, 15–25, and 14–25.
USSU finished the match with 20 kills, six aces, one block, and 43 digs on 81 total attempts, posting a .049 hitting percentage. Emmory McMurtray led the offensive charge with nine kills, eight digs, and three points, while Brenna Davis added four kills, a block, and 4.5 points. Vera Burns contributed three kills and a block, while Aubree Lamb provided two aces, nine digs, and two points. Defensively, Oriana Morin anchored the back row with 14 digs, continuing to be a steady presence in the Eagles' serve-receive and defensive schemes.
The Eagles will now regroup and play Meridian Community College for their next match up on Saturday, September 27th aiming to build on their defensive effort.
