Daphne, AL — The United States Sports University Eagles women's soccer team opened their 2025 season in commanding fashion, earning a 3–0 victory over Blue Mountain Christian University at the Fairhope Soccer Complex.
The Eagles controlled the match from the start, applying constant offensive pressure and refusing to allow their opponents a single shot on goal throughout the contest. USSU finished the evening with 28 total shots, 12 of which were on target. The Eagles also held a 5–0 advantage in corner kicks, underscoring their dominance in possession and scoring opportunities.
Ansley Warner broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute, scoring her first goal of the season and giving the Eagles the momentum they needed. Warner struck again in the 75th minute, this time on an assist from Katherine Solis, doubling the lead. Just three minutes later, Solis added a goal of her own when she calmly converted a penalty kick to seal the 3–0 result.
Warner led the team with two goals on four shots, while Solis was heavily involved throughout the match, recording one goal, one assist, and eight total shots. Additional contributions came from Saneya Gutierrez, Cameron Cain, Ambria Snell, Emma Deacon, and Asucena Magana, who all tested the Blue Mountain goalkeeper with shot attempts. Defensively, the Eagles were flawless, as goalkeeper Abby Bengtson secured a clean sheet without facing a single attempt on frame.
The victory moves USSU to 1–0 on the season and sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting campaign. The Eagles will look to carry this momentum into their next match up on Monday, August 25th at 5pm against Faulkner University Reserves.
Tonight's Player of the Match is Ansley Warner.
