Megumi Mitchell

Megumi Mitchell is the Head Athletic Trainer for the USSU Eagles.

Meg is a licensed athletic trainer with over a decade of experience in sports medicine and athlete care. She holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology – Exercise Physiology from Mississippi State University and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Troy University.

Previously serving as a Clinical Athletic Trainer at the Andrews Institute Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Pensacola, FL, Mitchell collaborated with Dr. Ryan Wehle to provide advanced patient care, including spinal cord injury management, EMG/NCS procedures, and various therapeutic injections. Her role also encompassed clinic operations, insurance pre-authorizations, and high school pre-participation exams.

Before the Andrews Institute, Meg served at Encore Rehabilitation, delivering comprehensive athletic training for student-athletes at multiple middle and high schools, covering practices, games, and injury management.

Meg served as an Athletic Trainer at Alcorn State University showcasing her leadership in coordinating sports medicine departments, managing budgets, and implementing drug testing and concussion baseline testing protocols. She oversaw men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, women’s soccer, softball, baseball, men’s and women’s tennis while assisting football. Mitchell worked at Faulkner University and Mississippi State working with men's and women's soccer, men's and women’s basketball, football, softball, baseball and men's and women's cross country and track & field.
