Long-time hitting instructor and seasoned coach Bob Simpson brings over 35 years of coaching experience to his role as Assistant Baseball Coach at the United States Sports Academy. Known for his dedication to player development, Simpson has helped countless athletes excel on and off the field.
Simpson’s coaching career began as an assistant at Southeastern Illinois Junior College, followed by a two-year stint at Berry College in Georgia, where he helped guide the program to national success with 4th- and 7th-place finishes in the NAIA. He later founded Future Swings Hitting Academy in Marion, Illinois, where he mentored over 500 athletes who advanced to play college baseball or softball. During this time, he also served as an Associate Scout for the New York Mets and threw batting practice for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Simpson’s expertise extended to Arizona, where he served as the Director of Operations at Frozen Ropes Hitting Facility, working with several MLB hitters. He went on to become Head Baseball Coach at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois, where 12 of his players moved on to four-year schools. He later established Hit Repair Hitting Academy in Marion, Illinois, and worked with Next Level Instructional Baseball in Nashville, Tennessee, coaching in the Nashville Knights organization.
In the Prospect League, Simpson served as the hitting coach for the Thrillville Thrillbillies, where he contributed to two division championships. He has also been a staple in the baseball camp circuit, dedicating 15 years to Vanderbilt University Baseball Camps and five years each at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. His coaching career even extended internationally, as he led a team of American players in Puerto Rico.
A native of Harrisburg, Illinois, Simpson began his baseball journey as a collegiate player at Southeastern Illinois Junior College, where he earned all-conference honors twice and was named an all-region performer. He continued his career at the University of Arkansas – Little Rock, building the foundation for his lifelong dedication to the sport.
With a legacy of coaching excellence, Bob Simpson is set to make a significant impact at the United States Sports Academy, inspiring the next generation of baseball talent.
