USSU Honors First Class of Student-Athlete Graduates

DAPHNE, Ala. – The United States Sports University honored its first class of graduating student-athletes at the Daphne Civic Center on Saturday.

The ceremony marked another milestone for the USSU Department of Athletics. 19 Eagles who completed their undergraduate or master's degree were recognized during the commencement. The student-athletes made history by competing in the university's first two seasons of intercollegiate competition.

"This is a very special moment for USSU Athletics as we celebrate our first-ever student-athlete graduates," said athletic director Shealynn Miller. "These young men and women took a chance on us, choosing to join an inaugural program and athletic department in 2024. In just two short years, they have helped build the foundation of our culture, our standards, and our future. Their commitment, resilience, and belief in something brand new have created a legacy that will always be remembered. Congratulations, and thank you to each and every one of our seniors."

Two members of the national championship-winning men's track and field team – Christian Aikens, a USCAA All-American, championship meet 200-meter record holder, USSU Male Athlete of the Year and program record holder in multiple events, and student assistant Cameron Rogers – were honored.

The Eagle softball program had the most graduates with 10 student-athletes – USSU Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Isabelle Calagaz, Liana Gonzalez, Anna Claire Fleming, Caitlin Tilton, Ahlexus Lackey, Morgan Courtney, Sydney Taylor, Sheonte Barginere, Jaci Hagler and graduate assistant McKenna Gehr.

Seven members of the USSU baseball team were also honored: USSU Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Alexander (Alex) Maguire, Case Hager, Jaden Brown, Hayden Jones, Victor Tyo, Evan Jacob and student assistant Weston Brock.
