No. 14 Rams Sweep No. 6 Eagles

DAPHNE, Ala. – The No. 6 United States Sports University softball team was swept by No. 14 Mobile in Tuesday's doubleheader at the Daphne Sports Complex.
 
Game 1 | Mobile 6, USSU 2
The game remained scoreless through four innings before Mobile (27-8) broke through with three runs in the fifth. Daryelin Rivas delivered an RBI double, Lucy Spisto followed with an RBI single and Diana Arcay added a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
 
USSU (12-17) answered in the sixth when Isabelle Calagaz hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 3-1. Later in the inning, Sheonte Barginere tripled to put another runner in scoring position, but the Eagles were unable to add on.
 
The Rams extended their lead in the seventh with three runs. Arcay delivered a two-run double and Lillie Lanham followed with an RBI walk to push the lead to 6-1.
 
The Eagles added a run in the bottom half when Calagaz singled home Irina Sanford to make it 6-2.
 
Calagaz led the Eagles with three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs while Sanford added two hits as USSU totaled seven.
 
Breana Barnes (6-7) took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits over seven innings.
 
Game 2 | Mobile 11, USSU 0 (5 Inn.)
Mobile took control early, scoring three runs in the first inning, all unearned, before erupting for five runs in the second to build an 8-0 lead.
 
The Rams added three more in the third. Diana Arcay delivered an RBI double, and Lillie Lanham capped the inning with a two-run double to extend the lead to 11-0.
 
USSU was limited to one hit in the game, a single by Morgan Courtney in the third inning.
 
Ryleigh Merritt (5-7) took the loss, allowing eight runs, five earned, over 1.1 innings. McKynzi Dawson worked 3.2 innings in relief.
 
Up Next
