Eagles Fall to Faulkner

DAPHNE, Ala. – The No. 7 United States Sports University softball team fell in Wednesday's doubleheader to (RV) Faulkner at the Daphne Sports Complex.
 
Game 1 | Faulkner 2, USSU 0
The game remained scoreless through five innings as both pitchers settled in early. Breana Barnes kept Faulkner (27-12) off the board, allowing just three hits through the first five frames.
 
Faulkner broke through in the sixth. Bailea Boone singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly, and Addyson Jarman followed with a double before coming home on an RBI single by Sarah Williams to make it 2-0.
 
USSU (12-21) was limited offensively, recording two hits in the game, both from Annabeth (AB) Parrish.
 
Barnes (6-10) took the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings while striking out four.
 
Game 2 | Stillman 6, USSU 3
Faulkner took control early, scoring five runs in the first inning on a pair of RBI hits and capitalizing on multiple errors to jump ahead 5-1.
 
The Eagles got on the board in the bottom half when Sydney Taylor drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
 
Faulkner added single runs in the second and third before breaking the game open with nine runs in the fourth and eight more in the fifth to extend the lead to 24-1.
 
USSU answered with four runs in the fifth. Kassidy (Rowdy) New singled to start the inning and Parrish followed with a base hit. Desiree Denmark reached on an error to bring in a run and Hayden Beasley delivered a two-run single. Denmark later scored on a wild pitch to cap the scoring at 24-5.
 
New led the Eagles with three hits while Beasley finished with two hits and two RBIs.
 
Ryleigh Merritt (5-8) took the loss while McKynzi Dawson worked in relief.
 
Up Next
The Eagles begin their final road stretch of the season with a doubleheader against Baptist University of Florida at noon on Tuesday.
