Burnett Podiums on First Day of South Alabama Invitational

Nero also breaks program hammer throw record

MOBILE, Ala. – Roderickas Burnett podiumed as the United States Sports University track and field team opened its weekend at the South Alabama Invitational on Friday.
 
Burnett placed third in the triple jump, marking a 14.31m (46-11.5) attempt. He finished in the top 3 in the event for the second meet in a row.
 
In the hammer throw, Jasper Nero broke the school record with a 41.51m (136-2) throw, which was good for eighth. Jacob Hagan set a personal record of 28.63m (93-11). Hunter Hall also finished ninth in the event with a 41.39m (135-9) attempt.
 
On the women's side, freshman Michaelle Sewika placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.54m (34-7).
