DAPHNE, Ala. – The United States Sports University softball team swept Tuesday's doubleheader against Baptist University of Florida at the Daphne Sports Complex.

USSU 8, Baptist University of Florida 3
USSU (5-12) opened the day with an 8-3 win in game one over Baptist University of Florida (0-16).

The Eagles scored in each of the first four innings to build a 6-0 lead.
Kassidy (Rowdy) New doubled and later scored on an error in the first before
Aralee Beene delivered an RBI bunt single in the second.

USSU added two runs in the third when
Sydney Taylor reached on a throwing error that brought home
Morgan Courtney and AB Parrish followed with an RBI single. In the fourth,
Desiree Denmark tripled to right center to score Beene and
Irina Sanford later reached on an error that allowed Denmark to cross the plate.

Baptist University of Florida scored three runs in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run double from Janni Murray, but the Eagles answered in the bottom half.
Hayden Beasley walked and later scored on an error before
Victoria Nunez lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Courtney and make it 8-3.

Isabelle Calagaz and Beene each recorded two hits as USSU totaled eight. Denmark added a triple and an RBI.

Breana Barnes (2-5) earned the win after holding BUF scoreless through 6.2 innings before
McKynzi Dawson recorded the final out in relief.

USSU 17, Baptist University of Florida 3
 USSU completed the sweep with a 17-3 run-rule victory in five innings over the Eagles.

BUF scored twice in the first inning, but the Eagles responded with four runs in the bottom half. Calagaz and
Ahlexus Lackey delivered back-to-back RBI triples before Parrish added a sacrifice fly to give USSU the lead.

The Eagles broke the game open with six runs in the second. Sanford singled home two runs, Lackey added a two-run single,
Jaci Hagler followed with an RBI double and Parrish scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 10-2.

USSU added seven more runs in the third. New drove in a run with a single, Taylor added an RBI single and scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Lackey scored on a wild pitch,
Liana Gonzalez delivered a two-run single and scored an error as the Eagles pushed the advantage to 17-2.

Sanford finished with two hits, three runs scored and two RBIs while Lackey went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Gonzalez, Hagler and Calagaz each drove in two runs as the Eagles totaled 12 hits.

Ryleigh Merritt (3-4) earned the win after yielding two runs over three innings. Dawson tossed the final two innings in relief.

The Eagles' 17 runs set a program record for most in a game while the 14-run margin marked the largest victory in program history.
