Jackson, MS – The USSU Eagles men's soccer team put forth a determined performance on Friday evening but came up just short in a 2–1 road defeat against Belhaven University.
The Eagles struck first in the opening half when
Kidomo Albert buried a chance in the 24th minute, assisted by
Kipper Miller, to give USSU a 1–0 advantage. The goal capped a strong opening stretch of play as the Eagles capitalized on an early opportunity.
Belhaven rallied in the second half to turn the tide. The Blazers equalized in the 55th minute, before taking the lead just five minutes later on a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Despite the setback, the Eagles battled throughout the final 30 minutes but were unable to find the equalizer.
With the loss, the Eagles move to 0–3 overall in the early part of the 2025 campaign.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 6th, when they host Webber International University at Fairhope Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. as USSU looks to secure its first victory of the season in front of the home crowd.
