West Point, GA – The Eagles men's soccer team battled hard on the road at Point University Thursday, ultimately dropping a tight 3-2 decision. Though USSU showed flashes of offensive life and competitive spirit, two second-half goals by the hosts made the difference.
USSU got off to a quick start with
Henry McMurphy finding the net in the opening minutes to put the Eagles ahead. Point answered early, but USSU regained the lead just before halftime thanks to
Kipper Miller's strike. In the second half though, Point leveled the game in the 56th minute and then delivered the winning goal in the 76th minute. Despite late pressure, the Eagles couldn't get the equalizer.
Offensively, USSU registered seven shots, four of which were on goal, consistently testing Point's defense and goalkeeper.
With this result, USSU moves to 0-5-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Eagles will look to bounce back quickly when they head to Huntingdon College on Saturday the 13th at 7:00 PM.
