Montgomery, AL — After a challenging stretch to open the season, the United States Sports University Eagles men's soccer team finally broke through, earning their first win at Huntingdon College with a hard-fought 2–1 victory on the road.
Huntingdon struck first in the 20th minute when the Hawks found the net to put them ahead 1-0. USSU responded in the second half, leveling the match in the 78th minute on a goal by Kidomo Albert, assisted by Henry McMurphy. Just minutes later, in the 82nd, Kipper Miller secured the lead with another goal, this time assisted by Albert, giving USSU their first lead of the game and ultimately the win.
Both teams showed strong offensive effort, but USSU's resilience in the second half made the difference. The Eagles outshot Huntingdon 8-7 in the second half after a scoreless opening half from their side, showing improved pressure.
The win improves USSU's record to 1-5-1 overall, and gives them a much-needed confidence boost as they continue play.
Looking ahead, the Eagles will be off for the coming week before heading back on the road on September 24th for a midweek matchup verse Talladega. Match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
