DAPHNE, AL —The United States Sports Academy's Athletic Department is thrilled to announce the launch of Cross Country for the 2025-2026 academic year. This addition to USSA's athletic offerings will provide student-athletes with the opportunity to compete at a high level and represent USSA in local, regional, and national competitions. The program will be open to both male and female athletes and aims to attract participants from all backgrounds and skill levels.

"We are incredibly excited to add Cross Country to our athletic offerings," said Taylor Rogers, Assistant Director of Athletics at the United States Sports Academy. "This initiative demonstrates the University's continued commitment towards intercollegiate athletics. With the addition of Men's and Women's Cross Country, the Eagles Athletics will grow to eight teams."

Currently serving as USSA's Head Track & Field Coach, Coach Canegitta has a proven track record of developing successful athletes and fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. "I'm excited to start a new Cross Country program at the United States Sports Academy," said Coach Canegitta. "I've had the opportunity to build successful programs throughout my coaching career, and I expect to continue that trend. I look forward to giving student-athletes the opportunity to continue their passion for running at the collegiate level."

In Coach Canegitta's career, he has coached 2x SSAC conference runner-up, multiple All-Conference runners, and national qualifiers, and led teams to top 20 cross country performances at Loyola University of New Orleans and University of Mobile.
