Megumi Mitchell is the Head Athletic Trainer for USSA Eagles. Meg is a highly skilled and licensed athletic trainer with over a decade of experience in sports medicine and athlete care. She holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology – Exercise Physiology from Mississippi State University and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Troy University.
Previously serving as a Clinical Athletic Trainer at the Andrews Institute Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Pensacola, FL, Mitchell collaborated with Dr. Ryan Wehle to provide advanced patient care, including spinal cord injury management, EMG/NCS procedures, and various therapeutic injections. Her role also encompassed clinic operations, insurance pre-authorizations, and high school pre-participation exams.
Before the Andrews Institute, Meg served at Encore Rehabilitation, delivering comprehensive athletic training for student-athletes at multiple middle and high schools, covering practices, games, and injury management.
Meg served as an Athletic Trainer at Alcorn State University showcasing her leadership in coordinating sports medicine departments, managing budgets, and implementing drug testing and concussion baseline testing protocols. She oversaw men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, women’s soccer, softball, baseball, men’s and women’s tennis while assisting football. Mitchell worked at Faulker University and Mississippi State working with men's and women's soccer, men's and women’s basketball, football, softball, baseball and men's and women's cross country and track & field.
With certifications from the Board of Certification and licenses in Alabama, Meg's commitment to athlete health and safety is complemented by her diverse experience spanning collegiate sports, high school athletics, and clinical settings, making her an invaluable resource in athletic training and rehabilitation. Meg's dedication to excellence ensures every athlete she works with receives the highest level of care and support.
