Three-time Olympian Gabor Mate joined the men's and women's track and field coaching staff in 2024 at the United States Sports Academy. Mate, a graduate of Auburn University where he earned a double major in finance and economics. While at Auburn, Mate was a two-time national champion in the Discus. Mate will coach the throwers for the Eagles.
Mate's highest finish in the Olympics was 11th place in the discus at the Athens, Greece Olympics in 2004. Mate brings to USSA coaching experience as a personal throw coach as well as the Head Coach of the Bay Area Bombers Track Club out of Mobile, Alabama.
