DAPHNE, AL — The United States Sports Academy's Men's Soccer fell to the University of Mobile by a score of 2-1 on Sunday night, at the Fairhope Soccer Complex. The Rams of Mobile opened the scoring at the 9:05 mark of the first period on a goal by Sam Hughes that was assisted by Fernando Jimenez. The Rams increased the lead to 2-0 in the 61st minute on a goal by Timo Shepfee.
The Eagles made it a one-goal match as Jaidon Workman scored on a free kick from 25 yards out to make the score 2-1. USSA was unable to get another good scoring opportunity and the match ended 2-1. Workman's goal was his first of the year. Mobile out-shot USSA 15-13 for the match.
"The guys fought hard and were a bit unlucky not get to finish in tie," said USSA Head Coach Peter Fuller. The Eagles will return to the pitch in Fairhope for a 7:00 PM match on Wednesday night against Spring Hill College.
